Electrician in Ashbourne

Ashbourne is regular working territory for us, recent jobs include second fix work in the town, and it's the sort of place where period property and modern estates sit a few streets apart.

Electrical work in Ashbourne

Ashbourne's centre is Georgian and largely conservation area, handsome buildings with thick walls, awkward voids and wiring that has usually been added to across several generations. Move out to the edges and you have modern estate housing with none of those constraints at all. It makes for a genuinely mixed workload in one town.

The town centre also has a lot of flats and converted upper floors above commercial units, which brings its own considerations: shared supplies, landlord EICRs, and charge point questions where there's no off-street parking. That last one is worth being straight about, without somewhere off-street to park, a standard home charger isn't an option, though the cross-pavement grant route exists for some households.

Being at the gateway to the Peak District, there's also a steady amount of holiday-let and second-home property here, where landlord EICRs and periodic testing come up more often than in a purely residential town.

The town centre also has a good deal of three-storey property and buildings that have been subdivided over the years, which brings its own quirks: supplies that serve more than one dwelling, meters in odd places, and circuits that cross between flats. Untangling that properly is usually the first job on any Ashbourne town-centre installation, and it's why an EICR here tends to take longer than the same-sized property on a modern estate.

FAQs

Ashbourne, common questions

Do you work in Ashbourne regularly?

Yes. It's a normal part of our working area and we've recently completed second fix work in the town. It's around twelve miles from base, so larger jobs are straightforward and smaller ones get grouped with other work in that direction.

I have no driveway, can I still charge an electric car at home?

Not with a standard home charge point, because the cable can't cross a public footpath. There is a Government grant aimed at households with on-street parking only, towards a cross-pavement solution such as a cable gully, but those need the highway authority's agreement. Worth a conversation before you commit either way.
